Greetings, Air.: SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act)

hellotallsara:

Right, so everyone is kicking off because the US Government are trying to close down websites hosting and allowing the download of copyrighted material.

People are saying what gives them the right to do so?

Well, let us think. Whether it’s games, music, films or books, someone has put their time…

Music, films & game prices are too high for most of the pockets, and that increase does not revert on the creator, it goes for the big company that promotes and puts it on the market. So when you’re paying 20$ or more for a cd you’re not feeding an artist, your feeding the company that comercializes it. And that doesn’t even help it’s workers because they won’t pay much more than the minimum salary.

Big companies should try and get creative, put the prices down or give customers some extra benefits (but that would be thinking, working and investing to get betterk, so it’s more comfortable to sit down and complain they lost a bunch of buyers). Now that downloading (stealing) is getting harder I won’t buy any of the stuff i wasn’t buying before, and so won’t other people.

The matter of fact is that the goverment is stablishing some sort of legal, factual and moral power on the internet, which was an enviroment where everyone could look for an answer, share what they wanted and enjoy random stuff for free (tumblr).

We have the big brother coming and the time to do something is now that it isn’t strong enough, now that it is visible and not stablished. The time has come for those who believe in freedom, self respect and mankind to join their voices in a shout that makes the big brother sit down.
